I have used this product weekly for 8 months and cannot be more satisfied. I was accustomed to having lovely nails that were always in great shape until a thyroid disorder affected my ability to maintain strong nails. I was disappointed for nearly 10 years with constant peeling, cracking, and breakage. After trying several other treatment regimens that did not deliver, I decided to try Pink Gel Coat. After the first application, there was a noticeable strengthening of the nail that prevented peeling and cracking. Within a week, my nails began to grow again. Within a month, I had very healthy nails again. After 3 months, I was able to return to weekly filing and shaping and the simple application of Pink Gel Coat maintained a professional appearance to my nails.

I was doing Shellac for about 6 months, a gel nail polish which is removed via soaking in acetone (yuck!!!) and then scraping off any remaining polish. Unfortunately I also had the habit of peeling off the nail polish when they were due to be taken off at the salon. This, combined with the nail tech scraping the remaining polish off often times with a metal tool, damaged them badly. Once the polish was removed, the nail tech would quickly reapply the polish without me seeing my nails. I never saw how badly they were damaged until I went to a new salon that opened near my house. When she saw how thin and brittle my nails had become, and I saw them too, we dediced to give them a rest. So I cut them all down and started over again, using this pink gel coat. While they are still growing out from the damage and are still short, I can see this gel is protecting my nails. I have been diligent about applying and that is important. The polish does yellow within a few days. Putting on additional coats would bring back the pink color, however, putting on more than two coats makes the polish peel off. So, the fewer the coats, the better it stays on. One time I had it on for 10 days and though the color had yellowed, it was great that it was not peeling off. The real test will be when all the damage grows out and I can apply it on solid/smoother nail. When you have damage in your nails, I don't care what polish it is, it will chip and peel off more than if your nail is a smooth surface. I knocked off stars because the product is a bit pricey, it does yellow, and peels if you put on more than two coats. And, most importantly, why on earth does this product contain formaldehyde???? Having said that, I am looking the other way about the formaldehyde, and sticking with this for a little while longer.

This stuff is fantastic! I've tried everything under the sun for paper thin nails that tear. This is it! No need to search anymore. I did my nails in a salon for years. I retired and wanted to give up some of the more expensive, unnecessary things I did. So I learned how to French manicure my nails. I put one layer of this on; do the white tip in a white lacquer (not an enamel white); then I finish off in one more coat of Perfect Formula Pink Gel and top it with a quick drying product from the salon. My nails do not tear in the winter; they have a better thickness to them; they feel and look great. This beats Sally Hanson's all to pieces and Avon products as well. The only thing I would say is don't give up. You have to use it. My nails basically stay good all week then I take it off and repeat the process. I've read some negative reviews in times past and the only thing I can think of is that people start and stop with it. Keep using it. You will notice it more in time. That is the recipe that works for me and this is my review. Others may have a different experience. All I know is that there is a difference and I am happy with it and have more chi-ching in my pocket; plus I'm not sticking my hand under an ultra-violet light and putting bad chemicals and glue all over them. Yippee!

After reading all the great reviews here and on other sites, I decided to purchase this polish through Sephora, because they have an in-store return policy. I'm keeping this baby!
It absolutely does strengthen nails, although not as strong as acrylic nails would. They look and feel like I applied 3-4 coats of topcoat.
I'm not super fond of the pink hue, so after living with it for one day, I added one coat of light pink polish and one coat of regular topcoat. It lasted a total of 5 days before I felt the sides of my nails start to fray. This normally happens after 2-3 days. I had no chips at all.
I was able to take off the polish with acetone remover with no problem. I used a bit more polish remover (again, as if I had on more layers of polish than I really did).
Today I decided to apply two coats of Christmas red over the gel base and top it off with the gel instead of a regular top coat. First off, it took several hours to fully dry, probably because the gel is so thick. I'll try curing it with a UV light next week.
The second thing I have a problem with is that the pink hue in this formula completely changed the color of my lovely Christmas red to purple! I'll have to purchase the color free version now. If I had known this little fact I would have done that to begin with.
I am giving this product five stars because it does strengthen nails and keeps them from chipping, just as promised.
Update: My UV light will not cure this. The only thing that speeds up drying time is applying thinner layers. I have since also purchased and used the clear formula which is slightly thinner. I only use the pink if I'm doing a french manicure, and even then I only use one coat and layer it with the clear version as the top coat. Still LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product! I'm having to learn how to type with fingernails in the way!

I am a retired professional manicurist. Some months ago, I removed my acrylic nails which I had worn for more years than I care to remember.
My nails were TRASHED!!! I tried green tea oil, olive oil. I was embarrased to show my hands. My nails had to grow out TWICE. The first time, they just filed and flaked off. The second time was less, but the 3rd re-growth gave me a fighting chance, but I needed more help.
One day I read about Pink Nail Gel, and I thought it was expensive, but I wanted to give it a try.
BEST NAIL PROTECTOR, BINDER, BUILDER I HAVE EVER DISCOVERED!!!
This product has improved my nails with every application. My nails were so damaged, I applied a coat every day, and now my nails are improving on a daily basis.
This is truly an amazing product.
I highly recommend Pink Nail Gel, if it worked for me, it will work for the most pathetic nails.
