Shellac is a UV light cured gel polish that lasts about two weeks. This color is more of a pearly golden tone and not pink. It looks very natural and sparkles for quite some time. I find that one coat of polish, well applied, is fine. I have used OPI's Axxium gel polish and it destroyed my nails. I now use Shellac. One item of mention is that to remove you need to use an acetone nail "wrap" for about 20 min to get the polish to come off easily. I make my own "wraps" by soaking cotton balls with acetone, placing the ball on my nail and covering with a 4 inch square of aluminum foil. Wait 20 minutes and the polish peels off like magic with no nail damage. Although this system takes more time compared to regular polish, it is long wearing under harsh conditions. The only reason you can't get more than two weeks out of a single coat of polish is because your nails will grow out.

I'm a beginner when it comes to applying my own Shellac. I've purchased 5 colors so far: Hollywood, Red Baroness, Tropix, Iced Cappuccino, and Iced Coral. I've found the Iced colors are much more difficult to use and haven't gotten good results with either color. The matte colors are much easier to apply thinly and smoothly. I haven't given up on the iced colors, but think I need more experience before I can get good results. Fingernailfixer.com is a great website for videos and tips. She has a great video on trouble shooting and mentions that the iced colors are difficult. My Iced Cappuccino application ended up streaky and blobby so I removed it immediately.Best Deals on Creative Nail Shellac Iced Cappuccino, 0.25 Fluid Ounce
I purchased two bottles of CND Shellac Iced Cappucino from two sellers to see if the second bottle is as thick and clumpy as the first. It was. Very difficult to apply thinly. Clumps and is the consistency of watered down oatmeal. I've used CND Shellac Rose Bud with great success. Something seems amiss with the Iced Cappuccino.Honest reviews on Creative Nail Shellac Iced Cappuccino, 0.25 Fluid Ounce
This product works just like the company says it does, it really does last two weeks as long as you remember to seal the free edge at the tip of your nail. I like this color alone, thought depending on your coloring it might look a little blah. It also works really well on top of a darker color or below a lighter color like iced coral to create new shades. And being a lighter shade, if your hand isn't entirely steady, mistakes are much less noticeable.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Creative Nail Shellac Iced Cappuccino, 0.25 Fluid Ounce
I'm still learning to apply these products, but have found all the YouTube videos by FingerNailFixer to be extremely helpful and I improve every time. I encourage everyone who uses CND shellac to take a look. Some things I've learned:Streaking is from not shaking enough OR by angling your brush too far to the vertical, especially with iced colors (use a flatter swipe), there are videos demonstrating each of these so you can see for yourself. The first demonstrates a mechanical paint shaker (no you don't have to use one) and the other is about the iced colors.
Lumps come from too thick areas on the nail.
Chips are most often caused by either not coating the edge of the nail well (easy to do with shorter nails) OR not applying the top coat well around all of the edges. She leaves a little room with the other coats for this reason. There is a video where she applies the top coat unevenly and you can see the first color layer thin a bit when applying the isopropanol cleanup at the end.
You can also run into problems if the UV light is not curing well not equivalent unit or old OR dirty bulbs.
Like she says at the end of each video, "I hope this helps" and you enjoy her videos as much as I have (also lots of great art tips, but I'm not ready for that!)
