I had a CND shellac manicure at a salon and fell in love with it. It lasts a long time, it makes my nails very strong so they don't break, it looks great, and is much easier to remove than gel polish. But salon CND shellac manicures are very expensive so I decided to buy a CND light and shellac and try doing it myself. I use the color "negligee" which is almost clear. The top and bottom coats are different from each other so you do need both. Watch some of the videos on you-tube before you try using it. The tips are valuable. (Apply very thin coats, but make sure they completely cover is one, at end, clean nails with alcohol to remove film is another. I completely polish one hand and then do the other hand.) After each layer you cure the polish under the UV light and then it is hard no smudging possible at all.

Works great. You'll need a cotton pad and some nail polish to finish off. The base coat doesn't dry all the way when you cure it. Neither do the color or top coats, but that's normal. Just use the cotton pad with some nail polish remover to go over the final top coat, after it has cured under the UV, and it removes the sticky residue without removing the color.
