I really like this little Orly Smartgels LED nail dryer for the price! It's small and easy to store. However, you can only dry the four fingers on one hand minus the thumb at a time. I did have a larger UV nail dryer. I liked it because I could fit both hands in it, but it was large and hard to store. It also took 2 minutes to dry gel polish, where the Orly Smartgels Led Lamp only takes 15 to 30 seconds.

I am a licensed professional, and I am mentioning that first because it does play a huge part in my rating of this Orly smart gel system. I'm not just a home do it yourself-er when it comes to gel nails in general, I do a lot of them for clients, and on myself.

That said, this LED light is a fantastic value for the size and the price. It is light, and feels almost toy like, but don't let that fool you. It really packs a gel curing punch. When they say 30 seconds, they mean it. It only fits four fingers at a time, with thumbs done separate, that's fine except that it's not really the right shape or height for both thumbs to sit comfortably inside. Not a huge problem though, since the led light unit is so very light weight I can hold it up with my hands comfortably rested on the table and then my thumbs sit at the right angle and are cured quickly.

Mine arrived with the power cord, which is not attached to the unit, but is a plug in port. The plug itself is oversized, so make sure you have room on your power strip or outlet, I was kind of surprised by this set up, (removable power cord), since there is not a battery/wireless powering option. But, again for the price, I can overlook the little oddities.

All my lights worked, and have worked just fine after so far about a hundred full manicures. The timer also works well, it will emit a beep when you first turn the unit on. It has a single bar button on top that is set for 60 seconds, but after the first 30 it emits a beep so, if you aren't curing a dark color, you know when to take them out and move on to the next coat.

As for the gel itself, I am quite a fan. I like the two in one base and top coat, as it saves space if that's an issue. The color range is okay, and the coverage of the colors has proven to be consistent. It's a little thicker in viscosity than other brands I'm used to, but after a nail or two you get used to the way this gel works. The wear time was consistent, about 16 days before there is any lifting, (this is average, mind you, sometimes it's worn longer and sometimes less).

The instructions for the system are easy to follow, even if you've never done your own before.

For a small, inexpensive investment, I highly recommend this for home use. But, if it's your first time definitely get the full system setup that includes the entire 'kit', it will go a long way in making for a positive experience.

I was kinda bummed because I couldn't find ANY reviews on this thing! It works really great with my gelish nail polish. It isn't super small, but it works best to do the four fingers first and thumb separately. This is a GREAT buy for your money....I highly recommend it! I have used about 5-8 times so far with NO problems

Honest reviews on Orly Smartgels, 0.18 Fluid Ounce

I got this product in time as promised, however, i could not use it when i got it! The nail lamp does not come with a power cord. Although my dust buster cord does fit into it, i returned it for the fact they did not tell me i'd need to supply my own. What a ripe-off!

I would give this zero stars if possible. Please do NOT waste your money. I have no idea where these great reviews are coming from!?!?! I purchased the system through Hautelook and it is a colossal waste of money and time. I tried the process exactly as described. The colors are light and streaky even after several coats. The lamp sent was not the same as pictured here -but completely useless nonetheless. Did not cure as it should AND was so hot as to become uncomfortable. No way to get a refund as it was a non-refundable item on Hautelook. At least on Amazon you can get a refund!

I absolutely LOVE these manicure tips I order them 10 at a time so that I have a stash for a while! I've tried every option for doing your own french manicure and this is hands down the best. Inevitably I end up chipping a brand new salon manicure within 24 hours. I am hard on my nails but I love having them look professional without having to use acrylics and other harsh chemicals. It takes a little getting used to, but you can't beat a french manicure that lasts for up to 2 weeks and still looks nearly perfect for a bargain price! Plus I love being able to say I do my own manicure :)

Some helpful hints I have learned over the last 2 years:

1. I always buff my nails before applying them to get rid of any ridges and help them adhere better.

2. I always try to use a tip that is wider than my actual nail so that I can file the excess on the side and allow more wiggle room to get the tip on without leaving a blank space on the edge.

3. I use a metal nail file to remove the excess after I make sure they are secure. Usually I apply all of one hand and wait a couple minutes before filing. I found that filing side to side with the file can tear the strip and makes the edges ragged, so I file perpindicular to the edge of my nail from front to back.

4. Apply a clear topcoat to give them the shine of a salon manicure. I still haven't found the perfect top coat, but I keep looking.

5. After about a week or when the edges start to look a little ragged, I trim my nails and file. Voila! A brand new manicure that lasts another week. In order to do this, I do have to apply the tips a little lower on my nail initially.

I wish they still sold these in stores because they were priced even better and it was more convenient, but these are definitely worth ordering. I don't even mind paying for shipping.

**UPDATE** I finally found a great basecoat / topcoat Salon Sciences Bonding Basecoat. It gives a nice shine to your nails and stays on for the entire two weeks that the manicure lasts. I put one coat on before the tips, let them adhere for a little while and go over with one coat. Any other basecoat or topcoat that I had used previously would chip or peel at least once during the two week wear.

SUCCESS.....FINALLY!

I wish someone had told me how to do this. It would have saved me A LOT of time and money. This is how to do a French manicure using the gelish system.....that will last at least 2 weeks, if not longer. If you do this exactly how I have instructed, the French tips will be almost as strong as acrylics from the salon. Trust me, it works and at a fraction of the cost. I do this AT NIGHT so I can sleep all night without my nails being vulnerable to anything that could damage them. When I wake in the morning, my nails are super strong.

You will need:

*Gelish products: cleanse solution, PH Bond, Structure gel, princess pink polish, foundation gel, top coat gel

*"Out the door" top coat. I get this at Sally's. It's a fast drying top coat and I haven't found anything even close to how it protects your nails!

*UV Lamp

1.Buff and clean nails using cleanse solution

2.Apply PH Bond

3.Apply French tips to clean nails. I cut the ends off close to where I will ultimately shape my nails.......not until entire process is finished.

4.Apply one coat of foundation gel over entire nail, including french tips.... cure 2 minutes

5.Apply 1 layer of gelish structure over entire nail, including french tips ......cure 2 minutes

6.Apply princess pink polish (I only use 1 coat) over entire nail, including french tips ........cure 2 minutes

7.Apply top coat over entire nail, including french tips ......cure 2 minutes

8.Apply "out the door" top coat.........I do this last step right before I am getting into bed.

I don't shape my nails until the next morning because by then my nails are super hard and can be shaped much easier.

I hope this helps get you the French manicure you've been looking for 

Best Deals on Incoco Nail Polish Strips, French Manicure, White Cloud (tips only)

I recently purchased the gelish gel nails set to do my nails at home. I have also purchased the french manicure gelish kit and it is so hard to do on yourself. I have been looking for an easy alternative to doing french manicures under the gel nails. I ordered these hoping they would look great and they look like my nails were professionally done! I placed these on first, then did my gelish base and top coat and they look so SOOOO good!!! I have only had them on for 2 days and have gotten so many compliments and people simply cannot believe these are my own nails and I did them myself! The gelish lasts about 2 weeks so I know these are well protected and will last the same. I work in the medical field and wash my hands about 40 times a day as well and they still last that long! I recommend for anyone wanted to keep their nails nice and manicured these strips in combination with the gelish look fabulous!!!

**UPDATED REVIEW**

After applying these tips I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. This definitely beats trying to apply white nail polish or manicure pens to the tips of your nails with (or without) nail tip guards. I'm use my hands extensively, so I didn't expect these to last the two weeks maximum, but they did last longer than painting the tips. I followed the directions, buffed my nails, cleaned them, and applied the tips according to the directions, and applied the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails topcoat. After 5 days, I have VERY small cracks running in the tips, and one of the tips has started to chip. I'm guessing if I didn't use my hands for everything, like a guy (lol) they would last longer. Either way, these are easy to apply and look awesome! I'll have to try clipping off the ends as mentioned in the second review to see if they look new again and don't chip when I clip them.

Some tips: I have to agree with the second review-I used a metal nail file and creased down, not side to side, to remove the excess tip. I used a topcoat-a must.

(INITIAL REVIEW)

I haven't applied these tips yet, but just wanted to mention that there is only one set of 16 strips (8 sizes) per package. Many of them look like they will be too big for my nails. I was expecting more strips and more sizes due to looking at Incoco's other products and viewing their website.) They should definitely state this in their product description. For this reason, for now, I'm rating these 4 stars. I'll update after I've actually applied the nail tips.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Incoco Nail Polish Strips, French Manicure, White Cloud (tips only)

I used the french tips from Incoco when they first came out. I'm not sure what they did to the product but I noticed the strips were very thin, almost see through, the packaging of the product is the dumbest design I've ever seen. The way they have the strips stuck together causes them to rip when you are trying to separate them. I remember using the french tips and they did not even chipping for about a week and a half and within a day these are already chipped. I'm very disappointed.

I've tried this product for a couple of weeks. Each time I apply the growth activator, my nails seems to grow fast in the next two days. I'm also using the Barielle nail strengthener at the same time. I can't wait to see my nails in six weeks. My goal is to have stronger, longer nails without the aid of artificial nails. So far, my nails have improved and are stronger. I would recommend this product.

It was difficult to determine whether or not this product sped up the growth of my nails. I was having a terrible time with the nails on my right hand. But I would say that it did seem to help them grow out faster. My nails were very, very short. I tried a few different Barielle products to strengthen the nails. Then used this product to help them grow out.

This product is amazing, it moist my nails and it doesn't smell like chemicals, it removes your polish without leaving your nails with weird stains.

I really like the smell of this nail polish remover although, I'm not sure that is a good thing. It is a big bottle, and when I received it, it had leaked. However, the seller fixed the situation and sent a new one. If I had realized when I ordered it exactly how big it was I probably would have tried to find a smaller size. Another problem I have with it is that because of its size when you tip it over it comes out too fast. I wish it had a smaller opening at the top. With that said, it works really well and does its job.

WANT TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS, even tho the product info and insructions state on the product that it is for acrylic AND GELS, it actully does not work with SOAK OFF gel products and polish. nail polish and soak off gels are more flexible than the intense seal, so it will crack and peel off and peel your polish right off. I used it on a client after applying soak off gels, and it peeled by next day.

i want the company to make sure this info is put on official product descriptions and instructions.. grrrr

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

IBD Intense Seal does what it says on the package (mostly). It applies like polish over filed acrylic or cured gel and then cures in the gel lamp. IBD Intense Seal is a little runnier than Brisa Gloss topcoat, but they're otherwise very similar in application and curing and you don't have to remove the inhibition layer after IBD Intense Seal. They both have that purple fluorescence that is always cool if you go anywhere with black lights. This product will NOT soak off with acetone, so you have to file the nail enhancement to remove it.

My only problem with this product is that it is brittle. You CAN'T apply it over polish on natural nails (to protect them from polish remover) because the flex of the natural nails will have it crack off. (If you must protect polish on natural nails from chemicals, I would recommend CND Shellac topcoat instead.) IBD Intense Seal will crack off of anything flexible (including too-thin gel or wraps) and after a few days I notice small chips off the sealed free edge of my acrylics. I just smooth the edge of the chip with a file and it wears fine afterwards.

Personally, I don't use Intense Seal on myself any more... I prefer IBD clear gel instead to seal my acrylics because it's not brittle and doesn't chip, but it doesn't feel totally slick like Intense Seal feels. So I still use Intense Seal sometimes on clients for convenience.

So, in summary, if you want to seal acrylic nails, this stuff applies very easily, cures in 2-3 minutes depending on your gel lamp, doesn't need leave an inhibition layer, and stays shiny for weeks. You need a gel lamp to cure it and you have to file it off to remove or fill. It won't work for anything less rigid than acrylic because it's a little brittle.

Best Deals on Ibd Intense Seal .5oz Each

Great Topcoat, but only to be used on acrylics and gels. Does not come off with nail polish remover. Dont use on natural nails. Other than that its a great product.

Honest reviews on Ibd Intense Seal .5oz Each

I absolutely love this product. It leaves a very durable high shine finish on nails with gel overlays, gel polishes, acrylic nails, and gel nails. I imagine it would also perform exceptionally well over silk and fiberglass wraps, but I haven't used it for that yet. I have replaced my UV Top Coat with this product since it requires no clean up or buffing after curing. I do not, however, recommend using it on natural nails. I gave it a shot to test it out since I'd heard good and bad on it's performance on natural nails. It flakes off on the free edge of the nail very easily with natural nails. I haven't had that problem with my gel overlays or my mother's acrylic and gel nails. What I love best about this product is that it protects my manicure very well from acetone during polish removals and clean up. I use the soak off method to remove stubborn glitter polishes and so far this product has stood up to the abuse perfectly. It's a major game changer for a polish addict like me. The only thing I would add is that it is detrimentally important to wrap the free edge of the nail during application. It will flake off and chip every time if you forget or don't properly get the entire free edge. I also recommend curing for 4 minutes under a UV light instead of the recommended 3 minutes. It seams to seal a bit stronger with that extra minute of curing time.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Ibd Intense Seal .5oz Each

Well, this does cut down on the time you would normally spend buffing nails, that is a good thing. However, it doesn't eliminate the need to do a bit of filing to even out the nail. You also need to use sparingly or it will create a ridge at the base of the nail, by the cuticle, that is as obvious as a poor filing job.

I had one manicurist that tried using it over the top of polish, which had a nice end look, but the polish chipped within a few days and I had to file off the rest of the polish.

I will continue to use the product.

This is a quality addition to the CND Shellac system. I have used this over various colors (most often Negligee) and it looks fabulous with all of them. I work at a drug store and have seen zillions of so called "glitter" polishes. None can hold a candle to this product. This is not goopy and messy. It doesn't look like you spilled a bottle of craft glitter on your hands. Instead it offers a smooth coat of clear silky polish with gentle well defined sparkles of varying pastel colors. It is remarkable.

I am new to gel polishes so I thought this was a white with white sparkles. When I got it the color is clear with really pretty colored sparkles! The sparkles are not huge, they don't stick out of your polish and there's not so much sparkle that you can't see the color under them. They also look really nice over clear. It was a great surprise! This has been over a neon pink for 4 days now and hasn't chipped or peeled. LOVE!!!

Seller is awesome as well!! I would definitely recommend!

Just a warning before you begin this review is about this color, but also about the product in general and includes some tips and hints so is rather long... :-)

Regarding this color my orders have matched my monitor color to my satisfaction, but I color calibrate my monitor regularly. Perhaps the previous reviewer's monitor is not calibrated well.

Mine did have the amount of blue in them that was pictured on the screen. It is a mix of blue/silver with black lines running through it. A "reptile" look according to many people who see them. I really like it. I has a sheen to it and the color effect changes depending how the light hits it. They also have/had the same in purple, but that was a bit too dark for me. I use it for pedicures.

My other favorites for pedis are twilight, and ballerina princess.

Below is posted in my other incoco reviews as well, but I posted it here is case you haven't seen it. Might be helpful to newbies.

I love nail films. I stumbled across them about 6 years ago and have been using them exclusively ever since no more polish here. I have been using Incoco products for at least 5 years and just discovered they are available on Amazon. I had been ordering directly from Incoco before. They are a wonderful invention others have jumped on board since that time as well, but Incoco has the best selection IMO.

TIPS AND TRICKS

Using manicure strips for pedicures

I use a lot of the manicure colors as pedicures including this color. I can usually get at least two, sometimes three pedicures out of a kit as one fingernail strip can often do two, sometimes 3 toenails.

TIP: Use a manicure scissors to cut the strips off cleanly, exactly where you want so you can use the remaining portion on another nail.

TIP2: If you wrap a small bit over the top of the nail cap the tip instead of filing it they will last a LOT longer.

Problems

The only problem I have is with possible drying out of the remaining nail strips. These pedicures last me at LEAST 3 weeks, but once you open the kit the strips start to dry out. So here are some tips on that...

1. Only take out the strips as you will use them. For example take out the large nail strip when you do the thumb/big toe. Leave the others covered in the package.

2. Do you work away from a fans/AC blowers, etc.

3. Seal up the package ASAP.

4. Seal it well! I use scotch tape at the end after I have squeezed out all the air I can. Then I seal that in a Ziploc with the air squeezed out.

5. If they do dry out, they will become more dry and brittle and prone to wrinkle and crack/tear as you apply. At this point I can still use them as I am an old pro by now :-) ... I've found the early wrinkles can be pressed out with a hard smooth object (like back of a spoon). Early/clean tears can be fixed with additional strips applied/lined up on the uncovered area just don't double up. But if they are too dried out you just have to throw them out! a real Bummer when you think you have a color ready to put on and open them up to find you have none!!

NEW Application tips

1. Don't worry too much about lining it up to your cuticle etc unless you are heading directly out the door! If you are staying in for the next 24 hours it will probably come off with some coaxing by you very easily. If you have to leave in an hour or so you can remove it by just peeling it off using a tweezers or other nail implement or anything even your nails (i don't recommend using them tho) to lift off the excess, or even filing it off. Just don't give up because you can't "line up" the strips.

2. I think the directions still say to file the edges. I find they last much longer if you "cap" the edge that is fold over some of the strip. Much like any salon manicure, if they do not cap the edges, it will start to pull away.

3. Mentioned above re-read above to keep your strips from drying out.

4. Cut the strips with a mani scissors. Save the paper and cover films for remainder if you are not going to use entire strip. You may want it for a toe or a patch later on.

All I can think of for now!

This nailpolish is horrible as a base coat! It dries and 15 to 20 mins later it is flaking off and looking horrible. I did not wet my hands or anything afterword that could possibly make it chip or flake but it does it anyway, everytime, without fail. As a top coat its fine but as a bascoat, don't even waste your time.

I loved this nailpolish at first but after a few months it got gloopy, bubbles and difficult to apply. I hate it. One of my least favorite top coats. Creases and takes a ridiculous time to dry.

Best Deals on Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails Advanced Hard As Nails

I'm pretty bummed out about this top coat... I am fairly new to doing my nails-I actually just sort of find the process therapeutic-but this top coat, while it DOES appear to strengthen nails over time, does give a nice, deep, glassy finish to the nails (when nothing goes wrong), and dries fairly quickly, it also seems prone to premature chipping and tiny bubbles that form after the coat has been laid on. There are so many chemicals in these things though, that I really don't know if this is the topcoat's fault, or some weird chemical reaction between it and the nail polish and/or base coats. I've been using an"eco" base coat to try and keep the weirdest of the weird chemicals away from my nails/nail beds, so maybe that is part of the problem? I have used about half of the bottle of this top coat, so it can't be said that I didn't give it ample chance.

I should note that I have not had the same irritating issues with Revlon, Konad, or Orly top coats, so I don't think this is a case of pilot error, as it were, but if anybody has suggestions, I'll try them, and if it works out, then, of course, I will change this review to reflect my findings.

Hope that helps!

Honest reviews on Sally Hansen Advanced Hard As Nails Advanced Hard As Nails

This product does what it sells for: my nails have been growing strong (I paired the top coat with the nail strengthener on my bare nails). However, the top coat is awful if you are looking for a long lasting manicure. Regardless of which nail polished I used under the top coat, it came off as a single piece or it chipped awfully. One would have to reapply nail polish in order to make a manicure last for more than 2-3 days.

I gave three stars to this product because it really made my nails strong, but I do not recommend it.

I've tried several more expensive top coats including Seche Vite but I always come back to this one. It dries fast, hard, thick, and shiny. People think I'm wearing gel polish but I put this on over OPI and it looks fantastic. I'm a server so they do chip somewhat often but if I go a few days without working they won't chip at all. Hands down best topcoat I've used and cheapest. To avoid bubbles take your time applying it slowly and evenly.

If I go to a salon, it's usually 10 days without any chipping. I've never had issues with polish peeling the next day except for with butter LONDON.

I'm really sad to give it a poor review. But I just think that for the money (and I bought it on Amazon! Imagine if I'd paid full price!), people who really care about long-lasting nail polish would have better luck with Essie or OPI. If you just need it for a day and want a fun color, this is fine. Otherwise, I'd go with a cheaper option that lasts longer.

I bought this on Amazon because it was sold out at my local Ulta store. I love this deep green (British Racing Green) it was perfect for fall (when I bought it). However, it has some sparkle in it not completely flat.

I also ordered the Royal Navy color. Such a beautiful color! Solid navy blue no sparkles. I've used it so many timeswith gold, silver, coral looks great with every color! I love that you can wear this color year round too.

This is subtle enough that you can get away with an unusual color. This particular color has real staying power too.

Love this color. Try Estee Lauder's Wicked Green polish for a bit of a lighter color. This one is great because it's a nice dark green color. Love it.

Let's just start off by making a few things clear..

One, I love this color(!). It's a little pine-ish with just a hint of micro-glitter! Google image "British racing green" and the first image will come up with the smackdab color.

Two, Its 3 Free! (Formaldehyde, and some other things...)

Three, The cute packaging!

Four, I love that I didn't have to pay a whooping $14 for .4 ounces of product!(Sale at Ulta)

Five, It dries OH SO FAST!

Six, None of that terrible dried nail polish scent. (HUGE PLUS, who likes walking around smelling like a chem lab??!)

Now, to address the drying...It doesn't dry so fast that you're left with horrible sludge marks as you try to drag that brush across a half dried-half wet nonsense. No, you can easily (and prettily) finish one coat, wait five minutes, apply the second coast, one more fiver annd you're done! No sheet marks if this is a right before bed venture. I've only had it on one day, so I can't attest to the staying power of the product(hasn't chipped yet)...

I also suggest a top coat for the I-just-applied-this look. It's a bit matte on its lonesome.

My manicurist uses this on me and I'm out the door in five minutes no worries about smears. Can apply nail polish at night and not get "sheet impressions."

Works very well. Just place a couple drops on nail after you have finished the very last coat of polish, and it speeds up drying time. it's a must-have in our salon.

This nail growth stimulator works so well as a base coat and it definitely helped my nails to get longer faster. I think it even helped with the peeling I used to get on my nails. I've never seen my nails grow as long as they have since I have started using this.
