I received a version of the product which isn't as pictured (gray bottle). This version isn't as glossy as the ridge filling base coat from Essie I've used as a natural nail color in the past. Does works as a base coat so two stars.

I applied to my nails and it didn't seem to fill any ridges and I don't have many. Nail polish chips very easily when applied.

I could tell this worked well from wearing it alone, but it is essential if you want to use their new high shine metallics. With those it is a lot easier to see ridges than with ordinary polish and the base coat makes a huge difference. I never used to use a base coat, except maybe with very red or blue polish to prevent staining, now I use it every time.
