Heard about Butter London from Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow's blog, and they said they are 3 free, which means less toxic and safer to use on your nails. As I am very addicted to manis and pedis, and I change colors almost twice a week, my husband has been very concerned with the toxins from nail products that would affect my health. After reading reviews and searching for a while, I decided to give a try to this base and top coat set. As I always believe, the base protects you from staining your nails and it sits directly on bare nails, and the top sustains the daily activities and prolongs your nail finish, both are the most important parts of doing manis and pedis.
After trying the base, it is very unique as it dries as a matt finish, very velvety, and it glides with a subtle thickness that hides the imperfected surfaces of my nails. I am impressed just my one coat it gives this results, plus it dries quite fast, very good start. So good looking that I could even just use this to fake for perfect bare nails out!
Then I do my normal routine, two layers of color, and then put on this top coat... Smooth, good consistency, the brush is with good width, with good coverage. I was not too sure how fast it dries for using it the first time, so I let it dry for an hour on the couch while watching TV.. and 5 days after..
Normally, the best top coat I have tried dried fast on surface, but if you press on it after 2 hours it will still leave finger prints or can still be pushed with wrinkles. This top coat dries thoroughly in an hour!! And not to mention, 5 days after, my nails still look like new, still with dewy shine and only with very fine chips on the edges of my nails!!
Totally unexpected results, as I have tried so many top coats that only look good for 2 days, or doesn't dry thoroughly, or not able to withstand any obstacles, but this one, by far is the best.
You will not be disappointed, for sure.

This is the best base coat and top coat I've ever used. The base coat dries matte in about 30 seconds. Polishes go on top just wonderfully. The top coat takes about 2 minutes for a soft dry; it is fully dry and amazingly hard at 30 minutes. I've done my nails just before bed, and this is the first brand that lets me go right to bed without that annoying sheet marks. Even one coat of a polish stays put for a week. I've tested this with other butter London polishes, Deborah Lippmann (great with the glitters), China Glaze and Zoya. Wonderful, wonderful set. I will not be using anything else.Best Deals on butter LONDON The Top and Tails Set
Ladies, don't even hesitate if you're a nail girl AT ALL, you need this. I used Seche Vite for years and loved how quickly it dried, but it shrunk my polish so badly that I was re-doing my nails every 1-2 days (I'm a little OCD and just can't tolerate chipped or worn-looking polish). I can't remember how I heard about this one (I have a couple Butter London polishes but honestly have not been impressed), but I read the reviews here and on MUA and decided to give it a shot.AH-MAZE-ING!! I only change my polish now because I get bored with it. One mani will last all week Sunday to Sunday with only the slightest bit of tipwear, not enough to trigger my OCD. The drying time is a little longer than Seche Vite, but the longevity far outweighs any inconvenience that imposes. I always do my nails at night and I've only had one problem with smudging, and that was more a result of the polish underneath (an Essie pale pink needing 5 coats for bottle color) than this topcoat. Even then it was just a smudge/ripple on my thumbnail not a true sheet mark.
Buy this, you won't regret it!!

Just got introduced to the Butter collection at Nordstroms. I am not ready to switch to Butter, because of the price, but those an investment into it's top and base coat would make my OPI colors last longer.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for butter LONDON The Top and Tails Set
I love this set because it looks beautiful, it dries very quickly, and I can save time and money doing my nails at home with it. It goes on so smoothly. The base coat dries to a smooth matte finish. I can skip the color if I want and just add the top coat which gives it a beautiful glossy shine and a clean natural look. I prefer a natural look on my hands anyway and this saves so much time! It lasts longer than when I have them done professionally! When I do add a color in between, usually just my toenails, the base coat keeps the nails from getting stained by the color.I also love avoiding the toxic trio: formaldehyde, toluene, and DBP. Polishes with those chemicals are considered hazardous waste! You're not even supposed to throw polishes that contain these toxic chemicals into the trash because they can leech into the soil and groundwater.
DBP (dibutyl phthalate) is a possible trigger of asthma attacks, this phthalate has also been associated with developmental and reproductive effects, and cancer in lab animal testing.
Toluene is a solvent, also found in gasoline, that can cause dizziness and short term intoxication. Like DBP, it is a volatile chemical that can be inhaled and absorbed through the skin and nails.
Formaldehyde is considered a human carcinogen by U.S. health agencies, and is an irritating chemical that people have allergic reactions to.
It is so worth the initial cost because it lasts a long time and is a much better product than any of the many others I have tried. It's amazing!
